The Champlain Waterfront Hotel

It was a really great spot to stay. We will be back!

Pros: Location was great for us. We did not have the breakfast but went to the attached pub because of the Canada/US Olympic hockey game but would've enjoyed the breakfast otherwise.

Cons: Everything was great. Nothing negative to say about this hotel.

Pros: Nathaniel, the front desk clerk, was super helpful and friendly

Comfortable, convenient and great value for the price I paid

Pros: The room was well appointed and very clean. the property was quiet and the finishings were fairly new. My room was perfect for me as a single traveler but a couple may find it a bit cramped.

Cons: The lobby area and hallways could have used a good cleaning but, in fairness, with the weather they have been having I imagine it was hard to stay on top of all the gravel and salty snow that was being dragged into the building

Pros: The beds were extremely comfortable - I had a great sleep. All the main facilities you'd expect. Breakfast was very basic but can't complain as it was free! Saw some complaints about parking but we had no issues during our stay. Nice modern and clean bedrooms.

Cons: The staff weren't particularly welcoming and took a long time to check us in. Access to the car park is quite poor. Breakfast was basic. The hallways to our bedroom were filthy - the carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a long time.

Loved the overall stay, staff was courteous and friendly, and location was excellent.

Pros: clean and updated room, friendly staff, location, location, location was excellent due to proximity to other attractions and central location within town.

Cons: Could have used a hot breakfast. Continental breakfast was okay but not my preferred choice.

Would return to stay right by the lake and the cool main street

Pros: The room on the third floor was spacious with a nice view of the lake. I understand that as an older hotel, not all rooms will be like this. This was one of the pricier options to select from, but worth it. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had good water pressure and temperature. Parking was also fine, though on the first night we had to use an alternate lot which is about 1/2 block away -- that lot is happily beside an excellent coffee shop, though.

Cons: Breakfast is quite sparse, and I think I'd rather pick up something from the cool local bakeries and coffee shops in close proximity.

For the price, it's hard to beat this budget hotel.

Pros: As its name suggests, Champlain Waterfront is right by the water, offering a very short and convenient walk to downtown Orillia as well as the waterfront by Centennial Park. As a family of 4, this was great because everything was within a 10 minute walk (15 with a stroller). For those who prefer to save money dining, a stocked Metro is nearby as well. The hotel has a microwave in the lobby area that we made use of for heating up our leftovers. The breakfast from 7am-10am is surprisingly robust for a free continental. The standout is the fresh made waffles from the waffle machine. Everything was clean and staff were kind and professional.

Cons: Not too much, perhaps extra amenities like a pool, but I understand that's part of what keeps the prices down for the hotel as well.

Nice and comfortable for a good price

Pros: The hotel room was very comfortable and very clean. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was fine, just grab and go stuff like muffins and toast. I would definitely stay here again if I was staying in the area.

Cons: The parking behind the hotel is small and a little sketchy to be honest. They offer free parking at another lot around the corner, but in my opinion it is a much nicer place to park than the lot attached to the hotel.

The hotel seemed different like there was a change of owners or management.

Pros: The room was comfortable and clean; The breakfast keeps on getting worse. The common areas were clean.

Cons: The front desk needs people that smile and know to greet customers. The breakfast was not great. The juice machine did not work because no one turned it on. The make your own waffles had a sign but no machine to make them. It needs help

The stay was very good

Pros: The room was very nice despite it being cool in the basement used air conditioner a couple times briefly. Had extra pillows in bed. The room was very clean overall as well and was mostly quiet except for a bit of traffic on the street at night

Cons: The traffic on the street at night did eventually end though. I had problem using the card to open door found out should have had arrow pointing down to open the door from the slot area had no problem after that when it was explained to me. The room was a bit cool even with no air conditioning on considering it was the basement though.
